About The Artist
Mary Denson is a native of Louisiana, but presently calls the mountains of Southwest Virginia home. She was educated at Louisiana Tech, Kansas City Art Institute and Radford University. These experiences and family encouragement developed her passion for the arts and this passion can be seen in her work, which she shares with her clients and students. Her primary focus is on portraits, which have been influenced by Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent.
Mary's paintings are in many private collections and she accepts commissions for portraits in oil, watercolor, pastel and pencil. Mary Denson's portraits go beyond just the physical likeness to show the personality and spirit of her subjects.
